Job Description

Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for a weekend-only position, with shifts available Saturday and/or Sunday. Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is currently operating out of our partner hospital, Village Square Woodside in Redwood City, while we work to secure a temporary location in San Carlos. Weekend team members will initially work at the Woodside location, with the expectation that the team will transition to a location within 30 minutes of Burlingame once secured. We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment - balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit. Responsibilities include: Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery Assisting with surgical procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, surgical support, and post-operative care Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service Schedule and compensation: Compensation: $35 - $40 per hour, plus a $2 per hour weekend differential Part-time, weekend-only position with 8-hour shifts scheduled on Saturday and/or Sunday Full-time Benefits Package*: Bonus package: $2000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of California CE allowance: $500-$1,000 based on tenure and credentials Health package: Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance and disability Employee Assistance Program 401k with company match Paid time off in accordance with site policy and applicable law Personal pet discount Uniform allowance *Part-time team members may be eligible for limited benefits in accordance with company policy and state law Minimum qualifications and skill set: 3+ years of veterinary technician experience Active and good-standing Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California ** Proficiency in the following skills: Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery Surgical assistance and aseptic technique Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement Radiology positioning and safety protocols Medication administration and accurate drug calculations Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment **Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply Why choose Burlingame Family Pet Hospital?
